Privacy Policy β Sim Owner Detail
We'd rather explain this in plain language than bury it in legal jargon. Here's exactly what we collect, why, and what we do β and don't do β with it.
Who We Are
Sim Owner Detail (referred to here as "we," "us," or "our") is an independent, Pakistan-focused educational website published at simsownersdetail.com. Our purpose is simple: help ordinary Pakistanis understand how to use PTA's own free SIM verification tools β the 668 SMS shortcode, the cnic.sims.pk portal, and the 667 code β properly and legally, without falling for the dozens of scam "lookup" sites that circulate online.
We hold no relationship with PTA, NADRA, the FIA, NCCIA, or any licensed telecom operator such as Jazz, Zong, Telenor, or Ufone. Nothing on this Site is issued, reviewed, or approved by any of those bodies β we are simply an independent publisher of educational guides.
Our team researches and writes every guide by cross-referencing publicly available PTA notices, operator help pages, and reputable Pakistani news coverage of telecom policy. When a rule changes β a shortcode is retired, a fee is adjusted, or a new biometric requirement comes into force β we aim to update the relevant article as soon as we can confirm the change from an official source.
Information We Collect
What we collect depends entirely on how you use the Site. Most visitors who simply read our guides generate only anonymous, aggregate usage data. A smaller amount of personal information is collected only if you choose to contact us or leave a comment.
| Data Type | What It Includes | How It's Collected | Required? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Usage Data | Pages viewed, time spent, browser and device type, referring link, approximate city-level location | Automatically, via analytics tools | Yes (anonymous) |
| Contact Data | Your name and email address, entered into our contact form | Voluntarily, by you | Only if you message us |
| Cookie Data | Session identifiers, preference flags, advertising identifiers | Automatically, via cookies | Partially β see Section 5 |
| Comment Data | Name, email, and the text of any comment left on a guide | Voluntarily, by you | Only if you comment |
How We Use Your Information
Anything we collect is put toward a small, specific list of purposes β nothing beyond what's needed to run a free educational website responsibly.
- Running and improving the Site β knowing which guides get the most traffic helps us decide what to update first and where to fix broken pages.
- Replying to you β if you email us or fill out the contact form, we use your name and address purely to send back an answer.
- Showing relevant ads β our advertising partners (detailed in Section 7) use limited data to display ads that fund the free content on this Site.
- Keeping the Site secure β server logs help us spot bot traffic, spam, and suspicious activity before it causes problems.
- Meeting legal obligations β we may disclose information if a Pakistani court, the FIA, or PTA requires it under valid legal process.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to anyone for their own marketing purposes β not now, not ever.
Where we rely on cookies or similar tools to support these purposes, we try to keep the footprint as light as possible β favouring aggregate, anonymised metrics over anything that could identify an individual visitor. If a future feature would require collecting more than what's described here, we'll update this Policy before that feature goes live, not after.
Your Rights Over Your Data
Under Pakistan's evolving data protection framework, including the proposed Personal Data Protection Bill, you hold a set of rights over any personal information we hold about you. We honour these voluntarily even where formal enforcement mechanisms are still developing.
Access
Ask us what personal data, if any, we currently hold about you.
Correction
Ask us to fix anything inaccurate or incomplete in your records.
Erasure
Request we delete your data where we have no ongoing reason to keep it.
Objection
Object to us using your data for analytics or any marketing purpose.
Portability
Ask for a copy of your data in a structured, exportable format.
Restriction
Ask us to pause certain uses of your data while a request is reviewed.
To use any of these rights, email privacy@simsownersdetail.com. We aim to respond within 14 days, and may ask for basic identity verification before acting on a request.
Cookies & Tracking Technologies
Cookies are small text files a browser stores so a website can remember something between visits. We use a few different categories, each for a distinct purpose:
| Cookie Type | Purpose | Can You Opt Out? |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | Keeps basic site functions working β session handling, security tokens | No β the Site needs these to function |
| Analytics | Anonymous page-view and session tracking to understand what content is useful | Yes β via browser settings or an analytics opt-out |
| Advertising | Set by ad partners to display relevant ads and measure performance | Yes β via our cookie banner where shown |
| Preference | Remembers a name/email you've used before, to pre-fill a comment form | Yes β clear cookies in your browser |
You're free to block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings, though some site features may work less smoothly afterward. General guidance on managing cookies is available at aboutcookies.org.
Do Not Track & Browser Signals
Some browsers let you send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal to websites you visit. There's currently no single agreed standard across the industry for how sites should respond to this signal, so β like the vast majority of websites β we don't yet have an automated way to react to it differently.
That said, you're not left without options. You can still limit tracking on this Site in several concrete ways:
- Disabling non-essential cookies through your browser's privacy settings
- Using your browser's built-in tracker-blocking or "strict" privacy mode
- Installing a reputable ad-blocking or privacy extension
- Opting out of interest-based advertising through the tools listed in Section 7
If browser-level DNT support becomes standardised industry-wide, we'll update this section to reflect how we honour it.
Third-Party Services & Advertising Partners
Running a free website means relying on a handful of outside services to keep things online, fast, and funded. Here's what we currently use, and what each one is for:
| Service | Purpose | Privacy Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics | Understanding site traffic and which guides people find useful | policies.google.com |
| Google AdSense | Contextual and interest-based advertising that funds free content | policies.google.com |
| Cloudflare | Content delivery, DNS, and protection against malicious traffic | cloudflare.com |
| WordPress | Content management system running the Site | automattic.com |
| Hosting Provider | Server infrastructure and uptime | Varies by provider β available on request |
Advertising keeps every guide on this Site free to read. Our ad partners may use cookies or similar technology to serve ads relevant to your general browsing interests β this data is not tied to your name or contact details unless you've separately given it to us.
None of these third parties are under our control, and each operates under its own privacy policy. We encourage reviewing those policies if you have specific concerns.
Data Storage & Security
We take reasonable, practical steps to keep any data we hold safe from unauthorised access, alteration, or loss. In practice, this includes:
- HTTPS encryption across the entire Site
- Hardened admin access with regular software and security updates
- Firewall and traffic-filtering protection at the server level
- Contact form submissions transmitted securely and kept only as long as needed
- Routine backups stored on encrypted infrastructure
How long we keep things: contact form messages are kept for up to 90 days after your query is resolved, then deleted. Anonymous analytics data may be retained for up to 26 months, in line with standard analytics defaults.
If we ever discover an incident that puts personal data at meaningful risk, we intend to inform affected users as soon as reasonably possible, describe what happened in plain language, and outline the steps we're taking to contain and fix it β rather than staying silent about it.
Minors & External Sites
Content Aimed At Adults
Sim Owner Detail is written for adults and anyone legally eligible to hold a SIM under Pakistani regulation β generally 18 and above, or a minor with proper biometric parental consent as PTA requires. We don't knowingly gather personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has shared personal information with us without appropriate consent, email privacy@simsownersdetail.com and we'll remove it promptly.
Links We Point You To
Our guides link out to a small set of trusted, official destinations, including:
- cnic.sims.pk β PTA's own SIM verification portal
- pta.gov.pk β Pakistan Telecommunication Authority
- nadra.gov.pk β National Database and Registration Authority
- Individual mobile operator sites (Jazz, Zong, Telenor, Ufone)
Once you click through to any of these, this Policy no longer applies β each destination has its own privacy practices, and we'd encourage checking them if you're unsure. We're not responsible for how an external site, even one we consider a trusted official source, handles your data.
Changes To This Privacy Policy
We may revise this Policy occasionally to reflect new practices, new tools, or changes in PTA or NADRA regulation that affect how we write about SIM verification.
When something changes, here's what happens:
- The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page is refreshed.
- For any significant change, we'll flag it on the homepage or relevant guide pages for at least 30 days.
- Where we already have your contact details, we may notify you directly by email.
Continuing to use Sim Owner Detail after an update means you accept the revised Policy. We'd suggest checking back here occasionally.
